Best Colleges for Women's Rowing

Women's rowing is a popular sport for many colleges, including the Ivy League schools. Some students have found that excelling in rowing can help give them an edge in the college admissions process. However, like any college-level sport, rowing is competitive and scholarships are scarce. The recruitment process will begin early in high school; students should take care to research their options to choose a college that is a good fit for them in both academics and athletics.

Rowing athletes train and compete year round with NCAA championships held in the Spring. Any college sport will be a huge time commitment; student athletes should honestly evaluate their abilities, goals and interests in order to decide what college to attend, and what division to play in. There are some scholarships available for DI or DII teams, but often the time commitment is greater and racing more difficult. Division III may be a good choice for students who want to focus more on academics.
