Best Colleges for Women's Basketball

The first women's college basketball game was played in April 1896, only a few months after the first men's game. There were nine players on each side and women had to wear uniforms that covered their body from ankle to wrist! The rules and uniforms have changed since then, but the spirit of competition is still what drives college basketball.

In considering what college to attend, student athletes should honestly evaluate their abilities and interests. DI teams are frequently found in larger schools, with bigger budgets and more scholarships available. However, the competition and time commitment is high. Many students find playing on DII and DIII teams a better option. Begin your research early, and choose a school with high academic quality as well as offering the type of sports programs you desire.
